BLSKS celebrates “World Theatre Day”

JAMMU, Mar 27: To celebrates the World Theatre Day & to promote the traditional folk culture l of J&K, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) presented its Dogri series musical play “SADI SAANJ” as part of its regular feature at open air theatre, Durga Bhawan Janipur Jammu.
The programme commenced with welcome song “Meri Matti Mera Desh” presented by the artists of BLSKS. The programe was inaugurated by the chief guest V K Magotra, former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India. Dr Anju Dogra, Health Department, J&K Government and Dr.Anupriya Sharma, President Medical Cell J&K, were the guests of honor.
Speaking on the occasion , chief guest said the rural areas still exhibit their art like Kud, Harna, Chajja, Yater, Jagrana , Dadaras, Gugail, Karkan, Baran, Bagtia and folk instruments Sarangi and other instruments . The organization makes a research of the parties performing these arts and their work to encourage them to keep their traditional art living, he said, adding that the main objective of the organization is to promote, protect and preserve the cultural heritage of the Himalayan region spreading in J&K.
Welcome address was delivered by Dr M L Dogra (Chairman BLSKS). He stressed the need to promote theatre in all its forms across the world and make people aware of the value of theatre in all its forms.
The singers, musician, actors and students of Music and Computer institute who performed musical play on the occasion, included Usha Raina, M C Kotwal, Zulekha Bano, Bindia Okheda, Rajni Gupta. Master Deepak Kumar presented vote of thanks.
