RAJOURI, Sept 7: Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine, Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri, in collaboration with the 155 Infantry Battalion of the Indian Army and JK Blood Donors Welfare Society, successfully organized a voluntary blood donation camp at Galuthi Manjakote.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from Army jawans, officers, and members of the civil society, with around 40 donors coming forward to contribute towards the noble cause of saving lives. The blood units collected will strengthen the availability of safe blood at GMC Rajouri’s Blood Centre, ensuring timely support for patients in need.
Dr Irm Yasmeen, Head of the Department, underlined the role of voluntary blood donation in bridging the gap between demand and supply of blood in the Pir Panjal region. She also referred to the contribution of the blood centre team members – Naveed, Javaid, Maroof, Asif, Rasleen, Gagan, Sahil and Shadab – who completed the camp on time despite prevailing weather conditions and difficult road connectivity in the area.
Representatives from the Army and civil society highlighted the joint initiative as an example of unity and community service.
The Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine stated that such awareness programs and donation drives will continue in the future with the mission of ensuring blood availability and saving lives.
