
Dr Jitendra, Chugh, Sat term women reservation historic decision

JAMMU, Apr 12: Justifying separate National Law University (NLU) for Jammu, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today resolved to forcefully pursue this demand during coming days.
This was stated in party’s political resolution tabled in BJP’s office bearers meeting here, today. The resolution was moved by party chief spokesperson, Sunil Sethi and it was seconded by former DyCM and senior party leader, Dr Nirmal Singh.

The party leaders, while strongly advocating for the demand, expressed the view when there can be two AIIMS, two SKUAST and separate benches of High Court in the UT, why can’t there be a separate NLU for Jammu region?.

The political resolution, while taking a dig at National Conference (NC) Government accused it of its total failure in fulfilling its poll promises. The BJP accused the NC that it betrayed the people on the promises made in its election manifesto particularly regarding providing one lakh jobs to youth and resolving issues of daily wagers. It urged the NC Government to fulfil its poll promises made with people of UT.
The resolution was passed in the office bearers meeting and members were asked to furnish their suggestions to Sunil Sethi in case they want amendments. BJP MP Jugal Kishore Sharma supported the resolution.
The party also strongly condemned what it called the “abusive language” being used by NC Ministers from time to time and criticised it for giving “hollow slogans and according step -motherly treatment to Jammu region.”
The resolution also appreciated the LG administration for sacking employees with anti national credentials and giving jobs to terrorism victims on compassionate grounds.
The resolution appreciated the Modi Government for giving additional funds to J&K Government for its development.
It also lauded Modi Government’s for granting 33 percent political reservation to women and termed it a historical decision, besides exclaimed its performance on international and national level.
The BJP complimented Union Government for making India naxal free while referring to recent announcement made by Union Home Minister, Amit Shah in this regard.
It also appreciated Modi Government steps for betterment of Indian citizens trapped during Ukraine and Iran wars.
The party resolved to contest the forthcoming Panchayat, BDC and DDC elections.
While seconding the resolution Dr Nirmal Singh alleged that UT Government has not come to the expectations of the people of J&K. He exuded confidence that BJP will form the next Government in J&K in 2029 on its own and urged the party activists to work in this regard from today.
The office bearers meeting was preceded by Core Committee meeting. The Executive meeting scheduled to be held on April 19 has been postponed in view of the other programmes of the party at national level, so the resolution was adopted in office bearers meeting, which was followed by the MLAs meeting, sources said.
Addressing the office bearers meeting, Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh, while terming the 33 percent reservation for women given by Modi Government a historic decision, said Congress during its rule only talked about women but did nothing practically for their empowerment.
Maintaining that this is an evidence based era, he said that no one can hoodwink the people in this modern age.
While strongly supporting the separate NLU for Jammu, Dr Jitendra Singh said when there can be two AIIMS , separate benches of High Court and two SKUAST one each in Kashmir and Jammu region, why can’t there be two NLUs?
He said the development in the UT is on fast pace saying that Shahpur Kandi which was started during Indira Gandhi’s time was shelved for 40 long years by previous Governments and Ujh Multipurpose Project conceived about 100 years back was not taken up till date and it was because of Narendra Modi Government that Shahpur Kandi is now near completion and work on Ujh Project will also begin soon,.
He said BJP is an ideology based disciplined organisation and party came out of Janata Party Government in 1979 after dual membership issue was raised.
“Our two ministers did not lose even a second in resigning from the Government at that time”, he added.
Tarun Chugh, while addressing, called for ideological commitment and booth-level strengthening. He emphasized that the core objective of the meeting was to ensure seamless coordination and the timely completion of all organizational structures down to the booth level. He directed party leaders to institutionalize regular monthly meetings at every tier Booth, Shakti Kendra, Mandal, district, and State to maintain organizational momentum.
Underscoring the importance of sustained public connect, Chugh stressed the need to enhance “Pravas” by leaders in their designated areas to deepen engagement with the public and strengthen cadre morale. He asserted that the BJP is not merely a political entity but a movement rooted in strong nationalist ideology, shaped by decades of visionary thinking.
Sat Sharma, in his address, laid strong emphasis on accountability and effective implementation of party policies at the grassroots level. He called for the immediate completion of organizational teams, including Morchas and Cells, across all levels to ensure seamless execution of programmes.
Highlighting the BJP’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, Sharma underlined the transformative impact of the Narendra Modi-led Government’s policies.
Ashok Koul sought detailed district-wise reports on key organizational activities, including Mandal Prashikshan Vargs, Foundation Day programmes, Gram Chalo Abhiyan, and upcoming Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti events. He informed that nearly 258 Mandal Prashikshan Vargs are nearing completion, after which district-level training programmes will commence shortly.
Leader of Opposition in J&K Assembly Sunil Sharma, MP (Rajya Sabha) Ghulam Ali Khatana, general secretaries, Sanjita Dogra, Anwar Khan, and Gopal Mahajan were also present on the stage.
BJP UT office bearers, Morcha presidents, and district prabharis participated in the meeting. Meeting proceedings were conducted by Gopal Mahajan.
