KALAKOTE, Dec 21: The BJP activists held strong protest demonstration against the National Conference MLA from Kalakote and demanded re-polling at Sailsui polling station, alleging large scale bungling. A large number of BJP activists led by party candidate from Kalakote, Ch Abdul Ghani Kohli reached Muradpur and blocked Jammu-Rajouri highway at around 4 pm today. They raised barricades and started protest. The BJP workers were raising slogans against the National Conference MLA from Kalakote. They were demanding re-polling at Sailsui polling station in Kalakote constituency. BJP candidate from Kalakote Abdul Ghani Kohli and senior Congress leader Vivod Gupta were leading the protest. Mr Kohli alleged that his party agent Nifat Choudhary who was deployed at Sailsui polling booth, near the residence of the MLA observed unfair means being adopted by some NC workers and agents during polling yesterday. She lodged protest with the Presiding Officer but he did not bother. She raised her voice and also gave him protest letter but he refused to sign it and take cognizance. The BJP agent was then beaten up by some NC workers at Sailsui and virtually dragged out of polling booth. She was injured and hospitalized. During protest at Muradpur, the movement of vehicles on busy Jammu-Poonch highway came to grinding halt. Later, DySP and Tehsildar Rajouri rushed to the spot and then tried to pacify the agitating BJP activists. On the assurance of officers, then they lifted dharna at around 5.15 pm. The traffic was later restored on the highway. Mr Kohli further alleged that behavior of ASP Nowshera was partial and he did not take cognizance of the matter. Even the police refused to lodge FIR against the NC workers, including brother of MLA, he alleged. He said ASP on the behest of local MLA, tried to drag the name of his son Wasim Kohli in the FIR for attack on him, despite the fact that Wasim was with him and was not at all at the spot yesterday. He demanded that FIR be registered against the accused who attacked BJP’s lady agent and house of BJP leader Haji Rashid at Sailsui.
