JAMMU, June 25: Accusing BJP of indulging in ‘divide and rule’ policy, JKNPP chairman and former Minister Harshdev Singh today appealed to all social and political organizations of Jammu to remain united to oppose, expose and finally depose all such opportunist forces that are working against Jammu’s interests for their personal loaves and fishes.
Talking to media persons today, Mr Singh said that after having succeeded in its design of cajoling the ACC (AIIMS co-ordination committee) to temporarily call off the agitation on AIIMS, the BJP was now trying to cause dissensions in the said amalgam by spreading canards and rumours. “The constituents of co-ordination committee are being approached and persuaded by the Saffron brigade to snap ties with the ACC in a bid to sabotage the movement on AIIMS with some seductive offers also being reportedly made to a few in this regard,” he alleged.
Mr Singh said that people of Jammu region had no reason to believe BJP assurances on AIIMS. “No amount of patch work or window dressing on the subject would satisfy the urges of the people of Jammu region who have unequivocally and unambiguously raised the demand for an independent AIIMS institute for Jammu identical in all respects to similar institutions announced for other regions of the country,” he said and added that the people of Jammu totally discarded the concept of “AIIMS like” institute or bifurcation of the already announced AIIMS into two campuses.
“Likewise the upgradation of Super Specialty Hospital into AIIMS is totally unacceptable as it amounts to divesting the Jammu region of one existing Health Institution to make way for the other,” he added.
