JAMMU, Jan 31: BJP State President & MLA, Jugal Kishore Sharma today said that the party has decided to take up the issue of the return of the body of Chameil Singh from Pakistan with the Government. He said that the State unit has approached its Party High Command at New Delhi to take up the matter with the Foreign Ministry immediately.
It may be recalled that Chameil Singh, a resident of border village of Pargwal, had crossed inadvertently LoC and strayed into Pakistan territory. He was taken into custody and lodged in jail in Pakistan. Inspite of repeated pleas by family members and his wife Mrs Kamlesh, he was not allowed to return and reunite with family who were instead informed that Chameil Singh has died.
He said that it is reported that he was tortured and beaten up by jail authorities resulting into his death.
Referring to Thanamandi incident Mr Sharma where two children got accidently killed by an abandoned explosive device he said the duo who both brother and sister, suffered unfortunate and unnatural death leaving behind shell shocked and grieving family.
He said that although they cannot be brought back to life but sincere efforts should be made so that such incidents do not occur in future. This is an eye opener to the people who should realize consequences of the Pak-sponsored militancy in the State.
Sharma said that the party is with the bereaved family and demanded an inquiry to look into as to how such an explosive reached there and why it remained unattended and ignored by the police and security forces.
