JAMMU, Jan 25: To commemorate the 76th year of Constitution of India, BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit took out a massive “Samvidhan Gaurav Padd Yatra” (Foot March), here today.
The yatra was started from Bahu Plaza and finally culminated at Dr Ambedkar Chowk.
Led by party president, Sat Sharma CA, the BJP activists, on reaching the site of foot March culmination, garlanded the statue of Dr Ambedkar and later, addressed large gathering.
The party leaders remembered the struggleful life of the Architect of the Constitution and exposed Congress for its negative mindset towards Ambedkar.
Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma said, “Dr B R Ambedkar was among the tallest leaders of his times, who achieved distinction of drafting the Constitution of the country. His splendid contribution needed to be recognized but unfortunately the Congress never bothered to give any kind of respect to Ambedkar.”
“It was in 1990 when BJP was supporting VP Singh Government from outside and the party exerted pressure on the PM to confer Bharat Ratna on Dr Ambedkar as a token of honour for what he had done for the nation,” Sat said, adding that when BJP came in power in 2014 under PM Narendra Modi, it took numerous initiatives to honour the legacy of Ambedkar.
Ashok Koul, general secretary (organization), in his address said that the life of Dr Ambedkar is full of inspiration, which teaches us not to quit but to have patience, work hard and achieve the best in life. The path shown by Dr Ambedkar will serve to encourage all generations.”
He asked the party activists to reach the masses and educate them about what Narendra Modi has done in honour of Ambedkar and also educate them to differentiate as to who ignored Ambedkar and who respected him in true sense.
