The protestors termed the move as anti-people and demanded its immediate withdrawal. Controversy erupted after the government began the recruitment process for 75 Naib Tehsildar posts across the Union Territory, mandating Urdu language proficiency as a qualification. This decision has sparked widespread protests across Jammu and Kashmir.
During the demonstration, BJP’s Poonch District president Gurdeep Singh raised slogans against the government and issued a warning that if the decision is not revoked, the party will intensify its agitation. He stated that BJP is ready to block roads and take the protest to the streets.
After the protest, the workers marched in the form of a rally to the DC office, where they submitted a memorandum to Poonch Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal.
Meanwhile, BJP took out protest demonstration against the NC Govt to make Urdu subject mandatory for Naib Tehsildars’ posts.
The protest was led by MLA Kathua- Dr Bharat Bhushan,  DDC Chairman Col Mahan Singh,  Vice Chairman Raghunandan Singh,  Member Karan Attri, Ravinder Sharma besides several senior leaders of party. They moved to DC Office Kathua from the main market.

Col Mahan Singh also criticized the NC Govt to adopt double standards and gave benefit to youth from Kashmir for political mileage.
