JAMMU, Apr 8: Former Minister and senior Congress leader has alleged that policies of the PDP and BJP and their governance has become nightmare for the people of this State.
Addressing public meeting in Gandhi Nagar (Malik Market) area today, the Congress leader said that the demand for sand and gravel as a building material has now increased manifold due to the ever increasing growth of construction industry and major infrastructure projects all over the State. He said in Jammu many such projects are coming up and the demand of the sand has increased exorbitantly.
Mr Bhalla said that acute shortage of sand and gravel has led to black marketing of these important ingredients creating piquant situation for those people who are currently carrying out construction work. Due to failure in inviting tenders, in the wake of political instability, the prices of ‘sand’ and ‘gravel’ trolleys have shot up considerably.
Delay caused on the part of the Government to issue licenses to the registered builders is adding to the miseries of the common people, he added.
Bhalla demanded that Govt should come out with strategy to sort out issues of tractor trolleys owners, tippers and crusher owners and most importantly labour community as most of them have taken heavy loan on it to earn their livelihood. He further sought time from concerned authorities to allow them to work till the formalities requisite for the operation of tractor trolleys are achieved.
Former Minister elaborated over the failures of the Coalition Government and said development has been pushed to back-burner while public grievances were mounting unheard with each passing day. He said CAPD outlets lacked sufficient supplies and the utility services were craving for maintenance. “The promise of 24×7 power supply has turned out to be a counter nightmare with unprecedented and unscheduled power cuts haunting the people of the State at the very onset of the summer season”, he said.
Mr Bhalla accused the ruling PDP-BJP coalition of failing to deliver the promises it made to the people of the State during and before the Assembly elections. He said the PDP-BJP Government has lost the trust of the people, in a short span of 10 months, because of utter failure to fulfill their tall claims.
