JAMMU, May 9: BJP State Freedom Fighters & Martyrs Cell organized a programme at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, wherein floral tributes were paid to great India’s Warrior Maharana Pratap on his 477th birth anniversary.
The programme was organized by Freedom Fighters & Martyrs Cell State convenor Bharat Bhushan Sharma in presence of State secretary Sanjay Baru, Senior leader Balbir Ram Rattan, Jammu district president Baldev Singh Billawaria and BJYM State president Dr. Suresh Ajay Magotra. They laid wreaths at the portrait of Maharana Pratap.
Sanjay Baru, while paying tributes to the great warrior of Mother India, said that “we must retain Maharana in our mind and soul all the times, not just on one day in a year”. This is particularly relevant for the youth of our State especially during the turbulent times going on in the Valley. He said that the Maharana was so popular for his patriotism and valour that every Indian was ready to die for the righteous cause. Even today his horse Chetak is considered as the symbol of loyalty and the power, who gave his life while jumping across a flooded river for saving the life of Maharana.
Baldev Singh Billawaria said that Maharana Pratap always led a life of simplicity, his examples of having friendships with Bheel, eating Chapati of grass and sleeping on the ground are his ultimate level of love for the mother land. Maharana was a lone ruler of the time who stood against  tyranny and spread ideas of Indian brotherhood.
Dr. Suresh Ajay Magotra said after the battle of Haldighati Maharana raised his army again with the help of loyal friends and regained most of the forts lost earlier thus giving us a lesson that we must not lose our efforts even in most difficult times.
Bharat Bhushan Sharma, while recalling the life of Maharana Pratap said that he was born on 9th of May, 1540 in Kumbhalgarh in Rana Uday Singh and Jaiwanta Bai family as a heir to Sisodia Rajvansh. He stood as firm wall to oppressions created by notorious tyrant of the time Mughal emperor Akbar, who used power of local Hindu rulers against other Hindu rulers by creating misunderstandings and dividing them on the basis of region and castes.
Balbir Ram Rattan, Varinderjeet Singh, Kulwant Singh Bhatti, Rajinder Singh Chib, Suraj Singh, Darshan Singh, Harbans Singh, Harbans Choudhary, Gurdiyal Singh Bali, P.L.Raina, Dr. Pardeep Mahotra and others also paid their tributes to Maharana.
