JAMMU, July 6: Glowing tributes were paid to founder president of Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) and a veteran leader, Dr Shyama Parshad Mookherjee by the State BJP on his 117th birth anniversary here, today.
The function was presided over by BJP State president, Ravinder Raina (MLA). Former Dy. CM, Kavinder Gupta, MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLC Ashok Khajuria and BJP State general secretary (Org.), Ashok Kaul were also present on the occasion.
Ravinder Raina, while paying tributes to Amar Shaheed, Dr. Shyama Parshad Mookherjee remembered his contributions for the unified nation. He recalled the speeches of Dr. Mookherjee in the Parliament and outside.
Raina said that in that time the people had to wait for months together to visit Ganga Maa after the death of her nears and dears. Also the people who wanted to visit Maa Vaishno Devi had to struggle to pay their obeisance. Amar Shaheed Dr. Mookherjee laid down his life for the better future of the J&K State and the nation as a whole. BJP is today carrying out his mission only and that’s why BJP opted out of power after the completion of three years, when it seemed that as partner in the Government, all was not being achieved for what Government was formed.
Kavinder Gupta, while addressing the gathering, also recalled the period of struggle for the “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishaan” as well as the continuous struggle of BJP veterans for the nation. Gupta said that when Dr. Mookherjee crossed over border and was jailed for his effort of total merger of State with India, his Advocate Uma Shankar was told that his life is in danger by the then Government. This proved true and his death has later become a great mystery. He alleged that he was murdered cold blooded and the true cause of his death is still not known to the masses. Dr Mookherjee stood as symbol of ethics and humbleness throughout his life and after his death.
Jugal Kishore Sharma while terming Dr Mookherjee a great visionary, said the seed sown by him in the shape of Jana Sangh has now become the largest party of the world.
Ashok Kaul threw light on the life events of the great ideologist and prompted party activists to follow the footsteps of great leader.
BJP State general secretary, Pawan Khajuria conducted the proceedings on the occasion.
