“The High Court stayed the proposal vis-à-vis regularization of unauthorized colonies in 2014 but till date no serious effort has been made by the Government to vacate the stay”, Sat Sharma said, adding “previous Governments regularized a number of colonies but present dispensation has completely failed on this aspect”.
He was joined by National Conference MLA from Nagrota Devender Singh Rana, who said, “these colonies were established several decades back but the present dispensation has not initiated any step to regularize the same”.
Though Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh tried to clear the stand of the Government yet Sat Sharma and Devender Rana expressed dis-satisfaction over the reply. “It is unfortunate that Government has failed to get stay of the High Court vacated during the past three years”, BJP MLA said.
He also questioned the reply furnished by the Deputy Chief Minister and said, “there is no mention of several unauthorized colonies in Jammu West in the list furnished by the Government”.
Later, Deputy Chief Minister assured the House to personally look into the issue.
Earlier, the House was informed that there are 31 authorized and 21 unauthorized colonies under the jurisdiction of Jammu Development Authority.
