KATHUA, Apr 8: Former minister and DCC president, Kathua Dr Manohar Lal Sharma while conducting series of public meetings at Jathana and Mangloor area of Billawar constituency today accused BJP of misleading the nation with hollow slogans.
Addressing gathering Dr Sharma said BJP was misleading the nation and people of Jammu especially on various fronts as it has failed to fulfill any of its promises so far except spreading falsehood and raising hollow slogans. Dr Sharma assailed the BJP for utterly failing in deliverance, saying the party has lost confidence and mandate of the people of Jammu.
The DCC president said the people of Jammu are feeling let down and betrayed, as their problems are accumulating with each passing day. “For over six decades, the BJP had been exploiting the Jammu sentiment by crying hoarse over the so-called discrimination, deprivation and neglect but when it came to delivering, they just raised their hands. Instead of talking about development, employment and other progressive issues during election rallies all the leaders of BJP talk of national, anti-national, communalism, religious issues,” he added.
Dr Sharma further said that erratic power and water supply, dilapidated condition of main and interior roads, scarcity of rations, unemployment and arrogance of power and lack of governance are the main achievements and highlights of BJP tenure in the state.
He referred to continuous protests and strikes of daily wagers for regularization and pending wages another example of mis-governance and failure of BJP government and said that due to these strikes the general public is suffering on account of non-availability of basic amenities services.
Manohar reminded the BJP leadership of its promises with the people of Jammu in general and the border areas in particular, asking as to what had happened to safe shelters and bunkers which they had claimed would be coming up within months of their Government. He urged the voters to vote for Congress candidates in upcoming parliamentary elections in the State.
