JAMMU, July 15: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of misleading the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country about the performance of the present Government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
He was speaking at a joining programme organized by Tejinder Pal Singh Aman, provincial president YNC Jammu, at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, where dozens of youth joined the NC.
Highlighting the achievements of the Omar Abdullah-led Government in its eight-month tenure, Choudhary said several poll promises have already been fulfilled. He credited the administration for bringing in transparency, accountability, and direction in governance.
Choudhary also emphasized the impact of the recently launched Mission Yuva, aimed at empowering youth, especially daughters of J&K. He said the scheme will help establish 1.5 lakh start-ups and generate 4.5 lakh jobs, asserting that only the NC can translate youth aspirations into reality.
Provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta also addressed the gathering, attacking the previous LG-led administration for misgovernance. He said that corruption, recruitment scams, and fund embezzlements that surfaced in the last 11 years have been curbed. He revealed that a Legislative Assembly Committee is probing allegations by ex-IAS officer Ashok Parmar regarding misappropriation under Jal Jeevan Mission.
Others who were present include Vijay Lochan (Chairman SC Cell), Rakesh Singh Raka (vice president, Central Zone), Zamir Quershi, Majid Iqbal Naik, Mudit Seth, Akash Kharka (district president Udhampur Rural YNC), Sahil Chib, Amit Sharma, Devi Dyal Jogi, Robin Kumar and Mohsim.
