BJP Minority Morcha pays tribute to Sikandar Bakht on birth anniversary

JAMMU, Aug 24: The Minority Morcha of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today paid rich tribute to former Union Minister and senior party leader, late Sikandar Bakht, on his birth anniversary.
A programme was organized where floral tribute were offered, and his immense contribution to the nation and the party was recalled with reverence.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP J&K Minority Morcha president, Ranjodh Singh Nalwa highlighted the sacrifices and services of Sikandar Bakht for the nation. He said that Bakht remained associated with the BJP in different capacities and served the country with honesty and dedication as a Cabinet Minister in the Central Government.
Singh recalled that Sikandar Bakht had left the Congress during the emergency period, taking a bold stand against the suppression of democracy. He was imprisoned throughout the emergency, but his unwavering commitment to democratic values and Constitutional principles remained intact. “His sacrifice and courage during one of the darkest phases of Indian democracy inspire us even today,” Singh noted.
He further added that Bakht’s long association with the BJP and his active role in shaping policies reflected his vision for a strong, inclusive and progressive India.
As a senior leader, he played a vital role in strengthening the party and raising the concerns of the marginalized and minority sections of society.
The Minority Morcha leaders remembered him as a statesman who stood for national unity, communal harmony and social justice.
They stressed the need for the younger generation to draw inspiration from his life and work towards building a stronger India. The programme concluded with a pledge by party workers to carry forward the ideals and values espoused by Sikandar Bakht and to continue working for the welfare of the nation with the same dedication and spirit of service.
Jasmeet Pandey, Gurdeep Singh district president, Minority Morcha, Surjeet Singh Prabhari, district Minority Morcha, Jasmeet Singh, Narinder Jain, Bhupinder Singh SP (retd), Jagjeet Singh Nanvat and others were also present and paid tribute to late Sikandar Bakht.
