JAMMU, Sept 2: R S Pura M.L.A, Dr.Gagan Bhagat today gave an account of the developmental works under taken in his Constituency during the present government.
Talking to reporters at R S Pura today he said after the BJP government came to power the people of the area got rid of unprovoked firing from across the border. Earlier people living along IB were facing tough times due to firing from across. But after the BJP government at Centre gave a free hand to forces the Pakistan restricted its activities.
The another best thing done was creation of community bunkers, he said, adding the B.A.D.P fund which was used for irrelevant purposes till now was used in creation of Community Bunkers and in training of border youths under the Skill Development Program of the Prime Minister which benefited the border people.
Dr Bhagat said recently Rs.5 Lacs were announced as compensation for the victim of firing and it was the great achievement and reveals the concern of the BJP towards the welfare of people living on borders.
He said under Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna, housing for all was a big challenge to provide shelter to the poor and to the downtrodden sections of the society. Whether it was a person residing in village or the urban poor, survey was carried out by Municipal Committee R.S Pura and a camp was also held at Devi Dwara R.S Pura in which the team apprised the locals about the scheme and R.S Pura was among the 25 towns which was selected in the H.F.A Scheme.
He said majority of people were left due to anomalies in the B.P.L list of 2002 and the benefit of I.A.Y was not accorded to the deserving people.
Dr Bhagat said the pensionary benefits were enhanced to Rs.1000 from the existing Rs.200, and this was a historical decision. He said besides roads were developed in the constituency under various schemes and transformers were upgraded in various areas.
