JAMMU, Oct 10: Indian Youth Congress (IYC) has alleged that BJP is dragging youth of the country towards drugs and Youth Congress will hold strong protest across the country against this menace on October 16.
Addressing a press conference at Congress headquarters here today, IYC secretary Incharge J&K, Maan Singh Rathore said that on October 16, a massive protest in the Union capital, under the leadership of new Indian Youth Congress president, Uday Bhanu Chib, who hails from Jammu, will be held. In Delhi protest, many Youth Congress activists from various states and UTs will be taking part. From J&K also, scores of youth will join. Thousands of country youth will march towards Parliament to conduct its ‘Gherao’, he added.
Rathore further disclosed that protest against spreading drug-addiction in the country will also be held in all the States and UTs of the country. The Youth Congress will spearhead the protest involving lakhs of youth of India. He said youth of the country want jobs and not drugs. Frustrated with the joblessness, these youth even after attaining higher degrees, are falling prey to the drug mafia.
IYC leader alleged that recently drugs worth thousands of crores was seized at Adani Port in Gujarat but the BJP Government did not take any action. They even know that these drugs will be supplied to the youth of the country to spoil their future but even then BJP Government remained silent. He said the recent spurt in drugs in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, J&K, Madhya Pradesh is eye opener but BJP is sleeping.
Rathore said in J&K, the unemployment rate is highest in last 45 years. The promise of providing 2 crore jobs to the unemployed youth by PM Modi has proved as a cruel joke. The BJP contributed a lot in spreading drug menace in J&K as well during last 5-7 years. This is the only contribution of this party.
IYC leader appealed to the youth of the J&K and the country to participate in large number in this programme—“Naukri Do, Nasha Nahin” on October 16 and wake up the sleeping BJP Government over alarming drugs menace.
PYC leaders- Ricky Dalotra, Rahul Tandon and Sunny Parihar were also accompanying Rathore.
