Cong launches MG-NREGA Bachao Sangram

JAMMU, Jan 8: AICC general secretary and Incharge J&K affairs of the party, Dr Naseer Hussain Khan (MP) today said that BJP-led Government has engineered communal divide in the country and dismantled the schemes launched by the UPA Government for the poor and marginalized people.
Addressing party workers’ workshop/ rally and launching party’s nation-wide campaign in Jammu today, Dr Hussain said UPA Government launched many Schemes/ Acts like– Right to Information Act, Right to Work, Right to Food, Right to Land etc for the welfare of the people of this country in the past. Under Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MG-NREGA), the work was provided for at least 100 days in a year, to the rural poor people as labourers, through Rural Development Department.
The UPA Govt had the vision to provide work to the poor people in the unorganized sector through RDD. This scheme remained very successful and was even invited appreciation world over. But unfortunately , the Modi Government has changed the name of this Scheme, removing Mahatama Gandhi’s name and shifted the burden on the state governments to run the scheme. The small states would not be able to sustain and run these scheme and it will be ultimately closed. This act of the BJP led Government amounts to snatch livelihood of the poor people in the rural India, AICC leader asserted.
The Congress MP alleged that RSS-man, Godsey had killed Matama Gandhi once but BJP is killing a world renowned and respected personality- Gandhi again and again by resorting to such acts. He said this Government is anti-poor and pro-rich/capitalists. This Government is trying to hide its failures and diverting the attention of the people from the basic issues.
Launching scathing attack on BJP and RSS, Dr Naseer Hussain alleged that by playing dangerous Hindu-Muslim card, the BJP is trying to engineer trouble and create communal divide in the country. The people must understand the dirty role and communal politics of this party.
He asked the participants to take down the MGNREGA Bachao Sangram to the grass root levels to educate the masses about the plan to snatch the right to work from the rural jobless. He said that newly appointed District presidents have to carry out this responsibility effectively as they have been selected through AICC process.
JKPCC chief Tariq Hameed Karra strongly criticised the Modi Government for replacing the historical rural job scheme in the country after the name of father of nation Mahatma Gandhi, who led the freedom struggle. Crores of rural poor got the legal guarantee to work every year by the unique scheme, through out the country but by replacing the entire spirit and pattern of the scheme, they have snatched the right to jobs of the poor people.
He appreciated the presentation of two experts Prof Sandip Singh and Prof Iqbal Shawl in the day long workshop on the various facets of the MGNREGA and the new scheme and asked the participants to circulate the pamphlets detailing the various aspects in order to educate the masses.
He said Congress party is already carrying out a statehood movement under the banner “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq ” through har ghar dastak and this movement shall be clubbed to aware the masses.
