BJP demands all-party meet on latest Chinese instrusion

NEW DELHI: Alleging that the Centre deliberately suppressed the latest incident of Chinese intrusion into Ladakh region, the BJP today demanded that the Centre convene an all-party meeting to discuss the issue.
“The BJP would like to ask the government, why the incident was not conveyed to the people. Why was it deliberately suppressed?” BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters.
He also sought to know whether the government was reassessing the level of engagement with China after recent such incidents of intrusion.
A fortnight before Defence Minister A K Antony visited Beijing on a four-day official visit, Chinese troops had intruded into Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir yet again, damaged surveillance cameras set up along the border and threatened locals, sources said here.
The incident that took place on June 17 in the vicinity of Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO), the scene of the April incursion which had threatened diplomatic relations between the two countries, was discussed at a flag meeting a few days later.
The sources while confirming the incident, said a Chinese patrol party had intruded into the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Chumur area near DBO.
The Chinese patrol broke the cameras which had been put up after the April standoff when Chinese troops intruded about 19 km deep inside Indian territory and set up tents there.
