JAMMU, Sept 23: Senior leader and Provincial president of National Conference for Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta has strongly reacted to the criticism by Sunil Sharma the Leader of Opposition in J&K Assembly and Dr Syed Naseer Hussain AICC general secretary against the Omar- led Government.
He said it is unfortunate that instead of acknowledging the marvellous achievements of the Government during the past 10 months, they are trying to undermine the popular mandate of the people.
Gupta said that despite facing unjustified pressure from the Centre and unnecessary interference from the LG, the Omar-led Government has delivered in every sector, whether it is improving governance, initiating developmental projects, or ensuring justice and accountability.
“The Opposition leaders are deliberately ignoring the fact that people have voted overwhelmingly for this Government, and their will must be respected,” he added.
The Omar Government does not require any certificate from anyone for its ten months of performance. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have already given their verdict by voting this Government to power. It is their trust and confidence that matters the most. In just ten months, the Government has performed far better than the last ten years of non-functional LG governance, which failed to deliver on even the basis needs of the people. Unlike the bureaucratic rule, the present dispensation is people-oriented, responsive, and accountable, Gupta added.
He further questioned why the Centre is still denying Statehood to J&K, which is the constitutional right of its people, and why the Business Rules are not being signed even after the formation of an elected Government.
