JAMMU, Mar 11: Senior J&K BJP functionaries including spokespersons Arun Gupta and Dr Tahir Choudhary, and media incharge Dr Pardeep Mahotra today highlighted the Modi Government’s efforts in accelerating industrial growth in J&K.
Addressing a press conference here, Gupta stated that the Rs 28,400 crore industrial package announced in 2019 received an overwhelming response from investors nationwide, surpassing expectations and fostering business growth. He criticized the National Conference (NC) for its history of hindering development in J&K, alleging that their governance prioritized personal gains over public welfare.
Post-2019, J&K has witnessed unprecedented industrial progress, with large investments leading to operational units that boost the local economy and create employment. In Jammu, significant industrial developments have taken place, particularly in Kathua, while in Kashmir, the hospitality sector has expanded with major hotel chains partnering with local entrepreneurs.
Gupta accused the NC of following a policy that stagnated development for decades. He claimed that during NC’s multiple terms in power, no meaningful industrial, tourism, or infrastructure development occurred, and large funds allocated to J&K were misused. He labeled NC’s governance as a period of “loot-khasoot” (plunder) and asserted that BJP would prevent any such practices.
Refuting NC’s recent claims that no industries have been established on allotted land, Gupta stressed that J&K’s current industrial progress is unmatched in its history. He condemned NC members for making misleading statements, such as proposing the cancellation of industrial land allotments, which could discourage investors.
