BJP betrays people over Statehood restoration: Balwan

GHAROTA (Jammu), Feb 11: Senior Congress leader and former MLA Th Balwan Singh has blamed BJP led Centre Government of betraying people of Jammu & Kashmir over the issue of restoration of Statehood and said that people will have to fight for their dignity and identity.
Addressing an impressive gathering alongwith former Minister Shabir Ahmed Khan and other party leaders on the occasion of opening of block Congress office, Th Balwan Singh said that Centre Government promised time to time to restore Statehood without delay especially after Assembly elections but even after four months of elections and elected Government taking over, the Centre has no intention to fulfill the promise.
He said that people will have to fight for their rights and getting back their status, dignity and identity as a full fledged State and the Congress party is already on the forefront for their rights and will intensify people’s struggle. He asked people to support the Congress party for achieving the goal of early restoration of Statehood. He said that the Coalition Government is also facing hardships to come upto the expectations of people and restore the responsive system to deliver to people, in the absence of full powers and Statehood.
Congress leader asked the cadre to strengthen the party at booth levels and defeat the BJP in the by-elections to Nagrota Assembly constituency. He appealed them to reach out to the people to apprise them about the failure of Modi Government on all fronts especially on checking rise in prices and record unemploment. besides imposing huge taxes on common man.
Former Minister Shabir Khan cautioned people about the division and hatred being created by the BJP in the country and said that only `united we stand’ otherwise the country shall get weakened. He said that country is in a dangerous phase of communal feelings and atmosphere of hatred for vote bank and asked people to remain united and strengthen brotherhood.
Senior leaders Rashid Azam Inqlabi, Romal Singh from Dansal, Jang Bahadur from Bhalwal Block, Ch Babu Khan of Block Mathwar and Vijay Sharma senior vice president DCC Jammu Rural were also present on the occasion.
