BJP betraying nation for electoral gains in J&K: Cong

NEW DELHI, Nov 7:
The Congress today charged the BJP with tying up, for electoral gains in Jammu and Kashmir, with groups who have raised questions on India’s Kashmir policy.
“Today, people who raised the question of India’s unity are talking of compromising with those who have raised a question on India’s Kashmir policy and who do not consider Kashmir as a part of India.
For electoral gains, they are are ready to tie up with the devil,” AICC spokesperson Salman Khurshid told reporters here.
Mr Khurshid said Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju has admitted that for electoral gains, the BJP has been trying to reach an electoral understanding with such groups. Terming it as an example of the double standards of the BJP, Mr Khurshid said,”is this the party which claims to be a party with a difference. This is a betrayal with the nation.
It can have long term implications. This is a matter of regret and the country will not forgive this.” The Congress comments came amid talks of an electoral understanding between the BJP and the separatist Sajjad Lone’s party, the People’s Congress.
Five phase elections for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly are scheduled to be held from November 25 to December 20. (UNI)
