REASI, Oct 18: The grand finale of the Police Martyrs’ Memorial Cricket Tournament, organized by IRP 1st Battalion Reasi under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025-26, culminated with a thrilling encounter at the District Police Lines (DPL) Ground, here today.
The much-anticipated final match witnessed an intense contest between Baba Jitoo Cricket Club (BJCC) and Narsingh Cricket Club (NRCC), Salal, with the former emerging as the champion after a gripping game marked by exceptional skill, teamwork and sportsmanship.
The closing ceremony of the tournament was held amidst great enthusiasm and was graced by Sara Rizvi, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, and Dr Vinod Kumar, DIG IRP Range Jammu, who attended as the chief guest for the occasion. On his arrival at the Battalion Headquarters, Dr Vinod Kumar was presented with a ceremonial guard of honour by the contingent of IRP 1st Battalion.
As part of the solemn proceedings, the chief guest, accompanied by the Commanding Officer of IRP 1st Battalion and other senior officers from district Reasi, paid floral tribute to the martyrs of IRP 1st Battalion at the DPL Ground. The ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the courage and sacrifice of police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
The event witnessed the presence of SSP Reasi, ADDC Reasi, ADC Reasi, Additional SP Reasi, besides other senior police officers, dignitaries, and prominent citizens of Reasi town.
A presentation ceremony followed the final match, during which the chief guest presented trophies and medals to the winning and runner-up teams.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vinod Kumar underlined the importance of such initiatives in promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and a spirit of healthy competition among the youth. He further emphasized that events like these play a pivotal role in fostering mutual trust and strengthening the bond between the police and the public.
