JAMMU, June 6: On the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of the legendary philosopher and Saint Acharya Abhinavgupta a programme organised by Abhinavgupta Shaktiveers, was held here today.
Noted scholars Dr R L Bhat and Pradeep Kaul Khod Balli enlightened the audience on the philosophical and literary contributions of Acharya Abhinavgupta.
Speaking during the event, Pradeep Kaul delineated in detail about the life and times of Acharya Abhinavgupta.
He said, “the relevance of this great master of India lies in his ingenuity and critical analysis with which he touches the intricate problems of philosophy. Abhinavgupta was not only a great sage, a prolific writer and a great philosopher, but he was also well aware of inimical forces that were gathering the borders of India in the tenth century. To counter them he extolled people to create learning centers so that the wisdom of India and Shaiva Darsna is propagated to the grass root level.”
Dr R L Bhat said, “a constant effort is needed to make people aware about the teachings and contributions of Abhinavgupta. The efforts of organisations like Abhinavgupta Shaktiveers can make a huge contribution in this regard.”
The programme conducted by noted social and political activist H L Bhat was attended by many noted social and cultural activists.
Meanwhile, a similar progarmme was also organized by Shree Ram Shaiv Trika Ashram.
Prof Jagir Singh, an eminent exponent of Trika Shaiv Parampara was the special guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Kashmir Shaiv Darshan dispels all illusions in human life and enables us to internalise the Shaivahood in each being. Thus decimating all the cobwebs that accumulate due to Avidhya. This Parampara eliminates all the falsehoods that may have accumulated and enables us to live a life of highest order. In this Parampara the role of the Guru is of paramount importance. Swami Ram Ji Maharaj brought the renaissance by establishing the Shaiva Darshan in Kashmir in its right perspective.”
Sanjay Raina, an eminent Trika practitioner of the Shree Ram Shaiv Ashram said,” Maha Maheshwaracharya Abhinav gupta was an epitome of Kashmir Shaiv Darshan. He shaped the research ecosystem of the tradition with his multi-dimensional expertise in terms of place consciousness and aesthetics of Kashmir. There is no field of philosophy and art which he did not situate in terms of Kashmir Shaiv Parampara and did an encyclopaedic work to integrate all the schools of Shaiva tradition.”
After the lecture series the traditional Puja of Charan Padukas of the Shiava Masters was performed and Prasad was served to the devotees. Proceedings of the celebrations were conducted by Dr Mahesh Kaul, an eminent Shaiva Trika Tantra practitioner and researcher.
