Biodiversity Management Committee meeting held

JAMMU, Sept 8: On the directions of Commissioner JMC, Avny Lavasa, a meeting of Biodiversity Management Committee was held in the presence of Nodal Officer SWM/ Secretary JMC, Tinna Mahajan.
The meeting was attended by the designated members of Bio-diversity Committee and Scientists, Educationists from different departments.
The members of Biodiversity experts participated in the meeting were Sat Paul Karlupia, Councillor and Agriculturalist, K.K Sharma, Agricultural Economist, Department of Agriculture, Mohammad Anwar Bandey, Joint Director, Department of Rural Development, Joginder Lal Sharma, Assistant Director, Department of Fisheries, Diraj Vyas, Principal Scientist, IIIM, Dr. Yashwant Kumar, LDO, Department of Animal Husbandry, Rajesh Chrungoo, A.E.E, Department of UEED and Tripta Jamwal, Social Worker.
All the designated Committee members present in the meeting were asked to follow up the decisions taken in the previous meetings. Regarding creation of a Technical Support Group of specialists of various fields, all major head of the departments of related fields were requested to nominate an expert from their respective departments/institutions.
In the meeting threadbare discussion and decisions were taken on the various issues of preparing Bio-Diversity Register.
Nodal Officer gave a detailed description of the requirements and mandate of JMC under the ambit of Bio-diversity planning,
All, the present were unanimous that the Bio-Diversity Register/plan under the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal limits can be successfully filled and goals achieved with roping in the expertise of different field departments.
She also shared the already compiled data collected during and after past deliberations since second Bio-Diversity Committee meetings.
It was unanimously decided that a comprehensive line of action regarding creating a data base will be taken up after the next meeting and the experts present were given direction to fill the relevant data within a week’s time.
It was decided that in line with the importance of Bio-Diversity, all will contribute with a voluntary missionary level.
