JAMMU, Feb 2 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir general secretary, Baldev Singh Billawaria and party spokesperson, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, welcomed the budget 2026-27 and termed it progressive, growth-oriented and focused on strengthening the middle class, taxpayers and the youth of the country.
Addressing a joint press conference at the BJP district office, Akhnoor, to discuss the Union Budget 2026–27, party general secretary, Baldev Singh Billawaria said that the budget reflects Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” and prioritizes inclusive and sustainable economic growth. He stated that the relief provided to the middle class and honest taxpayers will strengthen purchasing power, boost domestic demand and further stabilize the Indian economy.
He further emphasized that the budget places strong focus on the future of youth by going beyond slogans and creating real opportunities for employment. Investments in skill development, startups, innovation and infrastructure will empower young Indians, making them self-reliant and competitive in a rapidly evolving global economy.
Billawaria also highlighted that the allocation of Rs 12.2 lakh crore as capital expenditure clearly demonstrates the Government’s commitment to nation-building. Massive investment in infrastructure, modern transport systems and mega projects such as bullet trains will accelerate industrial growth, generate large-scale employment and connect regions with new avenues of development.
BJP spokesperson, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, said that the Union Government has shown exceptional commitment towards Jammu & Kashmir in the Budget 2026–27. He informed that an allocation of approximately Rs 43,000 crore has been made for Jammu & Kashmir, which is nearly Rs 2,000 crore more than the previous financial year, reflecting the Centre’s strong focus on the region’s development.
He added that this budget proves the Centre has opened both its “heart and treasury” for Jammu & Kashmir. The enhanced allocation will significantly strengthen infrastructure, road connectivity, education, healthcare and employment-oriented schemes, paving the way for holistic and long-term development of the Union Territory.
