JAMMU, Dec 5: Bhumesh Sharma, an expert in Road Safety, has been selected for National Film Award on Road Safety by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, for his contribution in the field of Road Safety.
The award carries a citation, shawl and a cash award of Rs 20,000.
The Union Ministry of Surface Transport had proceeded the cases of 759 contestants who had submitted their testimonials along with video spots to the jury constituted by the Ministry. The jury after screening of the scripts/video spots and other comparative evaluation of the same, shortlisted eight aspirants for the final award.
Bhumesh Sharma, who has authored two books, “Be part of Solution- On Roads” and “Be part of solution- On Road Accidents”, was ultimately chosen for the award and has been invited to receive the same in the prize distribution ceremony in second week of January 2016.
It is pertinent to mention that Bhumesh Sharma has been recipient of the National Road Safety Award in the individual category in the year 2012 also, which was conferred upon him by Dr C P Joshi, then Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways.
This is the second occasion when Mr Bhumesh is being conferred with this prestigious award. No other person from entire northern region of the country has ever received such award from the Union Surface Road Transport and Highway Ministry in the field of Road Safety.
Mr Bhumesh has also organized several live photo exhibitions on Road Safety in Jammu, Kashmir and New Delhi.
