LEH, Dec 5 : In a landmark event for the preservation and promotion of Ladakh’s linguistic heritage, the new Bhoti language textbooks for Balvatika 1, 2, 3, and Grade 1st and 2d were officially released today. The ceremony was held at the Purple Studio, District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Bhanu Prabha (IAS), Administrative Secretary, School Education, UT Ladakh, and the Guest of Honour, Ms. Tashi Dolma (JKAS), Director, School Education, UT Ladakh. They presided over the release in the presence of distinguished Bhoti language scholars, educators, and the dedicated faculty of DIET, Leh.
This release marks a significant leap forward in implementing National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in Ladakh, emphasizing the integration of mother tongues in foundational education. The meticulously designed textbooks aim to provide young learners with a strong base in the Bhoti language and script.
The contributions of the scholarly team, led by Shri Maryul Stanzin Nurbo, the principal designer of the textbooks, were celebrated and applauded by all attendees. The collective effort of the contributors and the DIET, Leh faculty was recognized as instrumental in this achievement.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Bhanu Prabha expressed her unwavering support for the initiative. She commended the work done so far and set forth a clear expectation for the development of Bhoti language textbooks up to the 12th standard, urging the team to prioritize and establish a definitive timeline for this expansion.
This event signifies a firm commitment by the UT Ladakh School Education Department to nurture linguistic identity and provide quality educational resources in the Bhoti language, paving the way for a robust multilingual educational framework in the region.
