JAMMU, Aug 31: JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla has strongly criticized the Union Government for its failure to respond to the recent flood situation in Jammu division.
Bhalla visited many flood-affected areas, including Barmini village, Greater Kailash, Lower Gadigarh, Rohi Morh, Ajeet Nagar and Manguchak and witnessed the devastation first hand. He alleged that the Government’s inefficiency, negligence and lack of preparedness have exacerbated the situation. He stated that the administration has remained inactive, failing to provide timely relief and rehabilitation measures to the affected families.
Cong leader demanded that the Government should take immediate action to provide basic facilities, including water, electricity, and healthcare, set up health camps and temporary shelters, restore road connectivity and communication links, provide compensation to farmers who have lost crops and livelihoods, ensure accountability and transparency in the use of disaster relief funds.
Bhalla criticized the Government’s response, stating that the announcement of a relief package is not enough to address the scale of the disaster. He emphasized that people need immediate relief on the ground, including food, shelter and medical care.
He assured that the Congress party stands with the people of Jammu division in this difficult hour. He pledged that the party will continue to raise their voice, demand action from the Government, and extend all possible support to the affected families. He called for immediate relief to flood-affected families in Jammu division.
Bhalla emphasized the importance of conducting a thorough survey of flood damage to assess the extent of the devastation and identify the needs of affected families. This survey will help the Government to develop a comprehensive plan for relief and rehabilitation. Bhalla stressed that it is the Government’s responsibility to ensure that the basic needs of affected families are met during this critical time.
