Bhalla, Sawhney pay tribute to Lt OP Chopra

JAMMU, Apr 8: District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu Urban today paid rich tributes to veteran Congress leader and former MLA Jammu East, Late Om Prakash Chopra on the occasion of his birth anniversary at a function held at the party office here.
The programme was held under the leadership of working president of JKPCC, Raman Bhalla and Yogesh Sawhney, former Minister and president DCC Jammu Urban, Ved Mahajan Ex- MLC and attended by other party leaders and workers.
Raman Bhalla paid glowing tributes to the late leader and said that his life and work continue to inspire generations of Congress workers. He added that Late Chopra actively participated in the freedom struggle and later served the people with dedication as a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Jammu East. He also served the party with distinction as District president Jammu (Urban) for more than 25 years and remained closely connected with the people and their issues.
Remembering the immense contributions of the veteran leader, Yogesh Sawhney said that Lt. Chopra was a respected political figure and a dedicated Congress leader who devoted his life to public service and strengthening the party at the grassroots level. He said that Chopra’s long association with the Congress party and his commitment towards the welfare of the people of Jammu will always be remembered by party workers and the public alike.
On the occasion, the Congress leaders also expressed deep condolences on the sad demise of Smt. Mohsina Kidwai, former MP and Union Minister, recalling her distinguished contribution to the nation and her long association with the Indian National Congress.
