JAMMU, Feb 24: JKPCC working president, Raman Bhalla here today pointed out that inadequate irrigation facilities, delayed government subsidies, fluctuating crop prices and lack of market access have left farmers struggling to sustain livelihoods.
Addressing a series of public meetings across R.S Pura, the Congress leader warned if agricultural issues remain unaddressed, rural households would face further financial distress, leading to a decline in productivity and rise in agrarian distress.
He stressed on the need for government intervention to provide timely support, fair pricing mechanisms and improved irrigation infrastructure to stabilize the agricultural economy.
Bhalla highlighted that poor road connectivity, poor power supply and high taxation are restricting business growth and preventing local entrepreneurship from flourishing.
Highlighting misery of the youth and unemployed graduates, he emphasized that neglecting the aspirations of youth not only fuels frustration but also encourages migration to other regions in search of better prospects. The Congress leader further urged the authorities to launch focused employment schemes, skill development initiatives and entrepreneurship support programmes to harness the potential of younger generation.
Concluding his interaction with the people, Bhalla reaffirmed JKPCC’s commitment to address public grievances, safeguarding the rights of marginalized sections and advocating policies that ensure inclusive growth and equitable development.
