Bhalla launches Rs 14 lakh development works

JAMMU, Jan 10: Minister for Horticulture, Housing and Culture, Raman Bhalla today said that the Government has framed a comprehensive plan to improve basic amenities in every corner of the State.
He was addressing locals, after laying foundation stone of Sulabh Toilet Complex at Nanak Nagar Sector-14, besides launching upgradation work on lanes and drains at Nanak Nagar Sector-9 involving an estimated cost of Rs. 13.86 lakh.
The facilities would be constructed by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC).
Mr. Bhalla asked, the Sulabh International Social Service Organisation to complete the complex within stipulated time frame by using quality material and good quality sanitary fittings.
Interacting with the people, the Minister called upon the people to protect public property in their area, adding that such type of assets are meant for their convenience and need proper upkeep and protection. He said that the Government was duty-bound to provide all basic amenities to the people across the state like safe drinking water, road connectivity, healthcare, education, power besides better lanes and drains including public conveniences.
Mr. Bhalla said Government was making best possible efforts to solve development related issues of the people on priority basis.
The Minister said directions have been issued to the officers to reach out to the masses and take the required steps to solve their grievances. He said that priority of the Government was to provide relief to the people in their respective areas. He added that Government has launched a number of welfare schemes to upgrade the socio-economic condition of the people.
Responding to the demand of Nanak Nagar residents, Mr. Bhalla asked JMC to depute a regular team of Safaikarmcharies to ensure cleanliness in the locality.
Mr. Bhalla asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to complete all the works like up-gradation of lanes and drains with grating within stipulated time frame.
Regarding replacement of worn out power supply wires, the Minister asked the accompanied Power Development Department officers to immediately remove and place fresh wires so that untoward incident do not took place in the area.
Mr. Bhalla also directed the PHE functionaries to lay water supply pipes in the water deficit areas of the Nanak Nagar.
