NEW DELHI, Dec 10: Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Wednesday said the Indian Army is undergoing a major transformation driven by technology-enabled human resource empowerment, structured capability infusion and ongoing organisational reforms, positioning it as a future-ready force. He hailed the success of Operation Sindoor, calling it a defining example of India’s calibrated, precise and resolute response mechanism.
The COAS was addressing the 38th Infantry Commanders’ Conference conducted at the Infantry School in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. Highlighting India’s unwavering commitment to strategic autonomy and emphasised the nation’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ approach as a cornerstone of regional stability, the Army chief highlighted the expanding role of military diplomacy in fostering trust and cooperation with partner countries, while noting that the evolving domains of Information Warfare, Cyber and Space are now pivotal to shaping the modern battlespace.
As the apex forum for deliberations on Infantry affairs, the conference provided an essential platform to review operational readiness, force structuring, capability development, training and welfare initiatives. Senior leadership undertook a comprehensive assessment of ongoing projects and outlined priorities to steer the future trajectory of the Infantry.
Over the two days, extensive discussions were held on enhancing operational preparedness, integrating emerging technologies and accelerating modernisation through indigenous solutions in line with the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
A significant focus of the deliberations was the implementation of transformative organisational reforms to improve operational efficiency and tactical agility.
Key initiatives such as the Bhairav Battalions and Drone Platoons were highlighted as critical milestones in enhancing the Infantry’s capacity to operate effectively in multi-domain battlefields. These reforms underscore the transition of the Infantry into a network-enabled, technology-driven and agile force capable of meeting evolving global challenges.
The conference concluded with a renewed pledge to uphold the highest standards of valour, professionalism and dedication to the Nation, guided by the Infantry’s enduring resolve: “Will to Transform and Lead to Victory in the Battlefield.”
Later, the COAS felicitated several veterans from Madhya Pradesh as key contributors to ex-servicemen welfare. The veterans include Wing Commander D. P. Tiwari (Retd), Col Raj Kumar (Retd), Nb Sub Kamal Kishore Soni (Retd), Col Pradeep Singh (Retd), and Sub A. K. Sisodia (Retd).
