JAMMU, Mar 17: Bhadradesha Cultural Forum (BCF) in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages is organising ‘Bhadradesha Utsav-2026’ on March 21, 2026, at Abhinav Theatre from 1 to 6 pm.
This was informed by Kulwant Manhas, chairman BCF during a press conference here today.
Manhas also said that the event will be a grand celebration of the millennia-old cultural heritage of the historic region of Bhadradesha where the Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo will be the chief guest.
“Bhadradesha, an ancient region referenced in the Mahabharata and various Puranic texts, holds immense historical and cultural significance. Associated with the Bhadra tribe, the region is deeply rooted in Naaga heritage and is known for its shared traditions, beliefs and cultural uniformity across geographically diverse areas. The cultural landscape of Bhadradesha extends from upper reaches of River Chandra Bhaga in Lahaul to Dharmkund and the Barasuel River up to Patnitop, encompassing regions such as Pangi (Chamba), Padder (Kishtwar), Bhalessa, Bhadarwah, Saraz (Doda), Ramban, Dudu-Basantgarh (Udhampur), Bani (Kathua) and parts of Churah,” he maintained adding: “Despite administrative divisions across districts and States, the people of this region share a deep cultural bond reflected in their language, customs, folklore and traditional practices.”
The Forum chairman further informed that the Utsav aims to serve as a cultural bridge, bringing together people from these regions and showcasing their rich artistic traditions.
“The programme will feature traditional dances, folk songs and instrumental performances by cultural troupes representing Pangi, Padder, Bhalessa, Bhadarwah, Saraz, Ramban and Bani. These performances will offer a glimpse into the vibrant cultural fabric of Bhadradesha and its enduring legacy. Stalls of local products of these regions will also be displayed,” he continued.
Manhas highlighted the need for greater recognition and balanced development of the region.
