BHADARWAH, Feb 15: The 118 RCC of Border Roads Organization (BRO) here today threw open the Bhaderwah-Bani-Basohli National Highway which was closed due to heavy snowfall at Chattergala pass.
An official said that during the recent heavy snowfall in the area of Chattergala Pass, the connectivity between Bani and Bhaderwah was snapped.
The dedicated team consisting OC of 118 RCC/BRO Lt. Col. Jivitesh Razora, OIC T.K Bag and JE R.K Mandal along with operators and CPLs opened the road axis within the stipulated time before two months under the guidance and supervision of Commander 35 BRTF Udhampur, S.K Singh.
“Despite all hurdles, the team braved heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions and is now taking adequate measures for maintaining the connectivity between Bani in Kathua and Bhadarwah in Doda for the convenience of general public,” an official of BRO said.
He further added that in addition to the snow clearance, the regular work on bridges and permanent works are also under speedy progress.
“The road from Bani to Bhadarwah and onwards is now open for the ease of general public from both the sides. Though no bus service plies till date on this route but the vans, cars and minibuses ply on this 84 km road safely,” the official further informed.
Officer Commanding 118 RCC/BRO, Jivitesh Razora, said: “The swift clearance was undertaken to guarantee the unimpeded flow of traffic, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to ensure connectivity and safety in challenging terrains in shortest possible time limit.”
“Whole exercise was carried out under the guidance and supervision of Commander 35 BRTF Udhampur,” S.K Singh maintained.
Meanwhile, criticizing R&B department, BJP leader, Ramnik Singh Manhas said that Bhaderwah-Chamba National Highway which is being manned by PWD is still blocked and traffic has not been restored on it as of now.
“We request the LG administration to hand over the Bhaderwah-Chamba road to GREF/BRO so that there can be smooth movement of the traffic,” he said adding that last year more than 3 lakh tourists came to Bhaderwah, the credit for which goes to GREF/BRO.
