JAMMU, Dec 6: PDP chief spokesperson Dr Mehboob Beg, former Member of Parliament, has reacted very sharply to `personal attacks’ on Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti by NC working president and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
“It is very unfortunate that Omar Abdullah, bereft of any issues, has been leveling personal and wild allegations against the Muftis out of complete frustration,” Dr Beg said pointing out that the Cabinet had unanimously condemned Udhampur attack on the truckers.
“On the other side, innocent civilians were killed daily in 2010 during the regime of Omar Abdullah but not even in a single case, the Government took action, which speaks the volumes of inefficiency on the part of previous Government,” he said.
On Omar’s claim that his party had extended support to the PDP in Government formation, Dr Mehboob Beg said the PDP and BJP have come together to form the Government to respect mandate of all three regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr Beg said it was Mirza Afzal Beg, his father, who had authored Sheikh Abdullah’s decision but the NC didn’t have any courtesy to give credit to him.
“Mirza Afzal Beg is never remembered by the National Conference. All other leaders, who had contributed to the State apart from Sheikh Abdullah, should also be remembered along with the Sheikh,” he said.
