This is to draw the attention of the JMC authorities towards the deplorable condition of the Children’s Park at Bhawani Nagar, Janipur.
The park which was inaugurated with much fanfare some years back was expected to serve recreational purposes of the public of the area. Though in the beginning, park was maintained on regular basis but with the passage of time, it is being neglected with the result one can see the recreational infrastructure like swings and slides breaking down and not worthwhile to use. The tiles of the pavements have got uprooted at several places and pose danger to the safety of people during walk.
There is urgent need to beautify the park by planting more flower, trees and by repairing or installing new infrastructure.
There is also the need to keep a vigil on anti-social elements that frequent the park. Hope, the concerned authorities would pay attention to this parks at the earliest.

Spruce up Ramban Bus Stand
The Ramban bus stand needs to be given a facelift as it has turned into a junkyard.
As the number of vehicles is on the rise in the area, there is no sufficient spaces for parking of big vehicles like buses and trucks. As such passengers who have to board a bus or alight at the stand face numerous problems. Shopkeepers are the worst hit. They encounter numerous problems in ferrying goods from one place to other.
Besides, one can see huge dumps of garbage here and there. These dumps often turn offensive during summers when stench emanates from them. The concerned authorities are requested to give a facelift to this important Bus Stand.

Water shortage in Kargil
We, the residents of Kargil town are facing water shortage in these bone chilling cold. Though water is supplied through water tankers, it is not sufficient to meet one day to day requirements. Besides, whenever a tanker supplies water, one witnesses huge queues of people there waiting for a bucket or a cane of water. At times prolonged wait results in scuffles among people. The situation has worsened further as some hand pumps in the town do not function. There is urgent need to press some more tankers in the town to meet the water needs of the population here.
Hope the authorities wake up to this problem and take action accordingly.

Water crisis in Drabshalla
The attention of district authorities of Kishtwar is drawn towards severe shortage of water in Drabshalla block. The villages that are worst hit are Kuntware and Chomoti.
The womenfolk here have to travel several kilometers to fetch drinking water. The process not only entails lot of time but also involves physical pain. It may be mentioned here that the taps are running dry from past several months. The matter has been highlighted before the authorities but no concrete action has been done so far.
It is therefore requested that water be supplied to these affected villages without further wastage of time.

We want to draw the attention of the JMC authorities towards the unrepaired Lane No. 1, Anand Nagar Bohri. This lane has been in such a situation for last 10 years and no one has bothered to get it black-topped. The matter was highlighted time and again, but all in vain. It may be mentioned here that all lanes except Lane No. 1 has been black-topped in the area. We request the JMC authorities to get this stretch repaired at the earliest, so that the residents do not feel any inconvenience.

Declare holiday on Sudhmahadev Mela
I would like to request J&K State Govt. to declare holiday on historic Sudhmahadev Mela. It is pertinent to mention that this mela is one of the oldest mela in which people from entire Jammu Province participate. The mela is directly linked with religious faith of lakhs of people and has a great tale to tell in the glory of Lord Shiva. The three days great mela is held in the month of June ever year. Legends say that Lord Shiva married with Goddess Parvati at Mantalai. So all the religious places and temples situated in the area like Gouri-Kund, Mandir-Dushala, Benisang, Haridwar, Gou-Karan, Nada, Budhi-Sudhi, Papnashni, Satnada and Mantalai are visited by the pilgrims and lot of religious rituals are performed at these sacred places throughout the mela days. Holy rivulet Devika originates in this area, thereby making these places most sacred to visit. On this occasion people take holy bath in Devika for purity of body and soul. Almost all Govt. offices and schools are pre-occupied by participants and warm welcome is extended to the pilgrims as per local traditions. The great mela is an alive event during day and night. Even some people from Punjab and Himachal also participate in the mela as per practice from the centuries. All sorts of people take part in the mela irrespective of their religious faiths. Apart from religious point of view, some people enjoy the scenic beauty of this place from tourism point of view.
It is again requested that public sentiments to taken into consideration and the Govt should declare holiday on this great mela immediately.
