“The old city is the cultural and economic backbone of Jammu. Our effort is to beautify these markets so that they not only offer better facilities to locals but also attract more visitors,” Yudhvir Sethi stated. He added that the plan includes upgraded pathways, improved lighting and uniform signage that add character to the area.
Sethi emphasized that improving the aesthetics of the market areas would support local traders by increasing footfall.
“When the surroundings become cleaner, safer, and more appealing, it naturally encourages more people to visit. This will give a significant boost to shopkeepers and small businesses operating here for generations,” he noted.
Local shopkeepers and residents welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that it would help restore the traditional charm of Jammu’s bustling bazaars. Many traders said the facelift was long overdue and would help bring the area on par with modern commercial hubs while preserving its heritage appeal.
