JAMMU, Feb 14: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) today urged the Governor to order high level enquiry into unauthorized sanction of 16.4 MVA additional load in favour of M/s Mir Steel Rolling Mills situated in Industrial Growth Centre, Lassipura in Pulwama district of Kashmir valley.
The issue was discussed in a meeting of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) held under the chairmanship of Rakesh Bhat, Senior Vice president of the Association. The Association members strongly flayed the recommendation letter issued by Development Commissioner Power, J&K vide No. DC/PD/TO-1/156/314-15 dated 19-07-2014 in spite of fact that the power connections for new industrial units engaged in manufacturing of steel through the use of Electric Induction/ ARC furnaces had been banned by J&K Government vide its Order No.72-PDD-2010 dated 03-03-2010.
It is pertinent to mention here that an interim order was passed by High Court of J&K on 29-08-2014 by the virtue of which the recommendation Letter No. DC/PD/TO- 1/156/ 314-15 dated 19-07-2014 issued by Development Commissioner Power, J&K was stayed. It was further directed by the High Court that no additional load shall be granted to M/s Mir Steel Rolling Mills.
Notwithstanding the directions of the High Court, the Principal Secretary PDD passed the  sanction order vide letter number 205-PDD of 2014 dated 21-10-2014 which is in gross violation of the directions of the High Court dated 29-08-2014 in favour of the  M/s Mir Steel Rolling Mills.
“It is a matter of great concern that the power sanction has been granted to M/s Mir Steel Rolling Mills whereas as per the record of the District Industries Centre Pulwama the constitution of Mir Steel Rolling Mills has been changed to Mir Steel Rolling Mills Pvt. Limited, hence the power sanction by the Principal Secretary stands null and void”, BBIA said.
“The Industries Department has blatantly misled the Government for obtaining sanction for new Induction Furnace & other allied equipments on the pretext of obtaining machinery for expansion & modernization of Rolling Mill. The machinery which M/s Mir Steel Rolling Mills Pvt. Limited  has installed is nothing but an Induction Furnace”, the Association said.
“It is a matter of great concern that with the connivance of some vested Government officials, M/s Mir Steel Rolling Mills has managed to import a new Induction Furnace & other allied equipments which is in total violation of the Government order as well as the order of High Court”, BBIA said.
It has requested the Governor to take due cognizance of the issue and pass necessary orders to Power Development Department to disconnect the power supply of the unit and constitute a higher level enquiry through State Vigilance Department to establish the facts.
