JAMMU, Aug 29: The Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has urged the Finance Department to immediately clear pending GST reimbursement claims worth around Rs 42 crores, which, according to the organisation, remain unpaid despite being sanctioned by the State Tax Department.
BBIA President Lalit Mahajan said the claims, pertaining to CGST and SGST reimbursements up to March 2025, have been forwarded to the Government treasuries but remain stuck due to non-release of funds.
He said the delay is badly affecting the working of industrial units, as entrepreneurs are unable to pay salaries, bank interest, and Government dues.
Mahajan pointed out that under SRO guidelines, reimbursement payments should be released within 21 days of submission, but the sanctioned claims are still awaiting clearance.
He appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary and Principal Secretary Finance Santosh Dattatreya Vaidya to intervene and ensure immediate release of funds to provide relief to struggling units.
