JAMMU, July 12: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) today flayed the Power Development Department (PDD) for repeated power failures in SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana for the last few months.
In an urgent meeting of BBIA held here today under the presidentship of Annil Suri, the Association members criticized the PDD for repeated power failures in the industrial area for the power supply being fed through 50X2 MW Grid Station and BB-I Receiving Station.
The members raised serious concern about the non working of 50MVA Transformer installed at 50X2 MVA Grid Station in Bari Brahmana Industrial Complex for last 10 months. They alleged that the entire load of power supply to industrial units from Grid Station has been shifted to working transformer resulting into low voltage and frequent trippings in the power supply to the industrial units.
Due to overloading of the working transformer, there is every possibility of total black out in the Industrial Complex as no alternate arrangement is available at Grid Station at present, they apprehended.
The matter has been brought into the notice of Power Development Commissioner and Chief Engineer, M&RE, PDD, Jammu a number of times but no action has been taken for the repair of the damaged transformer, they added.
They regretted that though industries located in Bari Brahmana are contributing approximately Rs 120 crores towards the cost of power supplied to industrial area but the department is not serious about the maintenance of the grid stations of the complex.
BBIA appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is also State Power Minister to intervene into the matter and issue necessary orders for the repair of damaged transformers and the replacement of faulty equipments at the Grid Stations for providing uninterrupted power supply to industrial sector of Bari Brahmana.
