JAMMU, Apr 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association has appealed the State Governor N N Vohra to ensure that the community may get its due share in all spheres of life.
In a fresh memorandum to the Governor, president of the Association and former MLA Sat Pal Lakhotra  said that Batwal community  has not been given any representation in the State Legislature, District Development Boards and other important forums of the Government though other communities rotationally availed this opportunity.
Mr Lakhotra urged the Governor to settle the grievances of the Batwal community by dividing the thirteen Scheduled Castes into sub groups with each block assigned its due share of reservation quota.
The other demands highlighted by him included allotment of land to Batwal community in the Jammu city for the construction of Community Facility Hall; Special Economic Package for the community on the basis of Survey Report of the Ethnographic Study of Batwal Community undertaken by the Planning Commission in 1994.
