Basquiat poised to set record at New York art auction

NEW YORK, Sept 20: An early work by Jean-Michel Basquiat could set an artist’s record in November when it is expected to sell for some $20 million, auction house Christie’s said on Tuesday. The untitled 1981 work, which has been in a private collection for two decades and has been featured in virtually every major Basquiat retrospective, depicts a fisherman displaying his catch hanging at the end of a line.
