UDHAMPUR, July 5: Surprising it may sound but is true that even after 72 years of independence Basantgarh area awaits basic amenities.
Dilapidated Ramnagar-Basantgarh road multiplies the difficulties of the people using it.
Also there is no bridge over the Chhattarari Nallah and school going children face difficulties in reaching their school during rainy days while they cross this Nallah as it gets flooded and has even claimed many lives at times when people try to cross it while it was in flood.
Basantgarh is a Sub Division where wooden bridges are being used by the public to cross some Nallahs.
Only one doctor is available at the health centre here and up-gradation of health centre is a long pending demand of the locals here.
After many people were killed in a terrorist attack in the year 1990 at Basantgarh many politicians had assured security and betterment of road but nothing appeared on ground till date.
Many schools of Basantgarh face shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff and have no basic facility like building, toilets, kitchen shed, laboratory, libraries and ICT lab.
SDM Basantgarh, Dr Adresh Peter when contacted said, public issues like teaching and non-teaching staff in the school, staff at health centre, issue of road, bridges etc are genuine and are discussed continuously with higher authorities and shortly all the problems will be solved.
