JAMMU, July 20: BJP senior leader and former JMC Councillor, Sanjay Kumar Baru, along with BJP Kashmiri displaced district president, Rajeev Pandita, Shaktikender Parmukhs, Bubesh Sharma, Jatinder Khajuria and local leader Jatin Sethi, listened to the grievances of the residents of Hazuribagh and adjoining areas at Talab Tillo Bohri in Jammu West Assembly constituency today.
During the meeting, locals informed the leaders that the street lights in some areas of Hazuribagh are non-functional. Residents also complained of waterlogging in by-lanes during the rainy season due to the lack of proper drainage in some localities. Additionally, people raised concerns about the growing problem of street dogs in the area.
After listening patiently to the issues, Sanjay Baru addressed the gathering. He stated that the biggest issue faced by the area was the lack of proper sewage infrastructure. He mentioned that during his tenure as Councillor, he proposed a comprehensive sewage project worth Rs 24 crore, which was approved last year but delayed due to the Model Code of Conduct during the Lok Sabha and later the Assembly elections. The project was meant for Ward 41 and adjoining areas. Baru assured the residents that the sewage problem would soon be resolved and that, along with Jammu West MLA Arvind Gupta, he would be inaugurating the sewage project at Hazuribagh tomorrow.
Baru further added that the issues related to street lights were already being addressed and residents would soon see positive results. Regarding the upgradation of lanes and drains, he mentioned that the matter had been taken up with the JMC authorities with the intervention of MLA, Arvind Gupta, and the required funds for the project had been approved in this year’s CAPEX budget.
Rajeev Pandita reaffirmed that public issues are always a priority for the BJP. He assured the residents that all the concerns raised were genuine and the party would work to resolve them one by one.
