DODA, Dec 27: Police today worked out robbery in Punjab National Bank, Bhaderwah and arrested the accused along with the robbed amount.
Police spokesman said that on December 10, 2012 one Vinod Wazir, son of Duni Chand Wazir of Sarol Bagh, Bhaderwah withdrew an amount of Rs 60000 from Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Bhaderwah and was in process of depositing the same in accounts of his daughters in Punjab National Bank Bhaderwah.
The robber was following the victim right from Jammu and Kashmir Bank where from he had withdrawn the money and was in search of an opportunity to overpower the victim and snatch the money. When Vinod Wazir was filling the pay-in-slip at Punjab National Bank, the accused snatched the money contained in a bag.
The victim tried to chase and catch hold the robber but being aged he failed in his attempts. Though the robber was caught in CCTV footage of Punjab National Bank, police received the significant lead in the case from the cell phone of the victim, which was taken away by the robber along with the money.
The robber had discarded the original SIM card of the victim but he had not discarded the mobile phone, which gave police a lead in identifying him. After identifying the location of the robber, SP Doda, Mohammad Arif Rishu deputed a police team, which arrested the robber and subsequently recovered Rs 60,000 cash and the mobile phone.
