Bank Manager abducted, assaulted

Srinagar, Aug 1: An employee of J&K Bank was allegedly abducted and assaulted in district Anantnag’s Achabal, reportedly after he declined to sanction a loan to a party.
According to officials, the incident took place on Tuesday evening when Saqib Mohammad Najar, a resident of Qazibagh-Advance Manager at J&K Bank’s Tailwani Achabal branch-was intercepted by a group of individuals while on his way to home around 8 pm.
“He was stopped by a car, forcibly taken away, and beaten,” officials said, adding that the assailants allegedly confined him in a room before he was rescued by the police.
As per officials, Saqib was kidnapped by Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganie, son of Manzoor Ahmad and a resident of Kanganhall, while he was returning home from work.

Acting swiftly, personnel from Achabal Police Station raided the suspect’s house and recovered the victim in an unconscious state, with bruises on his face.
He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment and later handed over to his family members, officials said.
Saqib was found in a room, though it remains unclear who informed the police or how they learned of his location.
After regaining consciousness, Saqib reportedly told police that his attackers were the same individuals whose loan application had recently been rejected by the bank.
The accused initially managed to flee the spot but was arrested today, they added.
Police have registered a case in connection with the incident under FIR No. 58/2025, filed under Section 140(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS).
Further investigation is underway.
