BANIHAL, July 8: National Conference leader and District President, Ramban, Haji Sajjad Shaheen has expressed grave concern over erratic power and drinking water supply besides lack of basic amenities in far-off areas of the Banihal Assembly constituency.
While addressing a gathering in village Chanjloo in Banihal constituency, Shaheen decried the neglect of the local former Congress MLA, saying due to misrepresentation the entire Banihal constituency has been completely ignored as the two time former MLA has proved a disaster for the majority of the people living in this backward constituency.
He said the road network is also in a dilapidated condition that has impacted the mobility and added to the miseries of the people. The District President urged the R&B Department for clearing the hurdles on Chanjloo-Gujjarnar road and demanded extension of road link from Chanjloo to Naikpora and Zohdapora so that major chunk of leftover population also gets road connectivity.
Shaheen also drew attention of the State administration towards deficiencies in Education and Health sectors and sought electrification of leftover villages and speeding up construction work on PHC at Chanjloo village.
He said that a decade long performance of the two times former local Congress MLA who served as a Minister as well with nine Ministerial portfolios under him has remained quite disappointing and this era will be remembered as the darkest era in the political history of Banihal constituency as people of this most backward constituency have a feeling of having been let down and are fed up with the corrupt practices and nepotism that has evolved during the last ten years.
While welcoming a number of Congress workers, especially youth, in the party fold, Shaheen said people have realized that National Conference is the only party that can address social, political and economic aspirations of not only people living in constituencies like Banihal but all the three regions of the State.
District vice presidents Mohd Afzal Wani, Saif u Din Dar, Chodhry Jamat Ali, Parvez Ahmed Sheikh, Gh Hassan Naik, Haji Abdul Ahad Shan, Riyaz Ahmed Mir Riyaz Ahmed Mir, Abdul Jabar Hajam, Abdul Gani Wani, Tariq Ahmed Dar and others also addressed the gathering.
