Srinagar, June 1: The employees of Bandipora Municipal Committee (BMC) today locked the office of the BMC against the posting of Executive Officer of Sumbal and Hajan Municipal Committees, Abdul Rahsid Shah as Executive Officer Bandipora.
Shah who has several cases of corruption registered in the Vigilance Department has made hundreds of illegal and unauthorized appointments in Municipal Committees of Hajan, Sumbal and Bandipora over the past 4 years.
The entire staff of the committee locked the office of the BMC this morning and marched to Deputy Commissioner’s office in protest. The employees said that they will not allow the functioning of the office in Bandipora till the order of Shah is revoked.
Around 1600 illegal and unauthorized appointments were made in the Municipal Committees of the State for past several years with majority of these appointments made since 2009. Majority of these appointments were made in Bandipora, Sumbal and Hajan Municipal Committees.
